Dr. Jan is a lecturer of food and beverage management at The Hotel School of Cornell University. She earned her doctorate (Ph.D.) in Hospitality Management at Iowa State University in 2018. She completed her Masters of Liberal Arts in Gastronomy (2012) and Bachelor of Science in Communications (2004) at Boston University.

She currently teaches Restaurant Management, Culture & Cuisine, and Foodservice Facilities Design. Previously, Dr. Jan taught for Boston University, Le Cordon Bleu, and Newbury College. Past courses taught include: Seminar in Culinary Operations, Food Concepts for Hospitality, Service Management for Hospitality, Food and the Media, and, Special Topics in Food Studies.

Her research focuses on food culture and restaurant culture, specifically looking at career opportunities and progression for foodservice employees as it relates to education, training, inclusion, cultural competency, and workplace environments.
